Sadly, Anthony has left the band to pursue his endeavors as an all-star graphic designer. He will be missed. So we’re going to finish up these last few shows with him and in the meantime, we’re looking to fill his shoes. Here’s what we’re posting everywhere:

WE ARE:
A fun, catchy, raucous, danceable indierock quartet (including you). We gig 1-2 times per month to an ever-increasing crowd of friends and fans. Our live show is awesome. We practice twice a week in WB. We have an UNSHARED lock-out that’s really nice!

We’ve self-released 2 EPs and gotten some very positive feedback (http://www.iamtheheat.com/press/). We’re currently spending our time compiling material for a full-length record. And we’ve recently filmed for the Fearless Music TV show - our spot should air in a month or so. . Things are going well…

YOU ARE:
- accomplished bassist
- comfortable writing collaboratively (we really stress this - we write as a band)
- ability to quickly learning a set’s worth of existing material
- energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated
- someone who loves to hang out/party/etc. We love fun. You should too. We’re all good friends, blah blah blah.
- someone who will take this serious. We all have full-time jobs, but we do intend to start taking small tours (days, not weeks) within the next few months.

* ability to sing backing vocals is a plus!

This is a great opportunity to join a rad band with some fantastic momentum. If you are interested, please check out the tracks we have online (links below) and then message us with some juicy details about YOU! Influences? Best show you’ve ever seen? Best show you’ve ever played? Links to previous bands are welcome!

Please note: at this time we are only looking for bass players.

Have a fantastic day!

xoxo,

Another night, another successful party.

This past weekend, Anthony hosted a party at his place. The minute champagne and shotgunned beers are added to anything we do, you can be sure to know that the night is going to end well. Also, if you add in loud music and cupcakes and high fives, it basically made the night the best thing possible. I wonder if anyone went home and made the sweetest love to each other? I’m pretty sure though that more than a few people went home and probably puked, everywhere. WIN!

There are tons more photos from the night that be seen here at Flickr.

Get real

Our CD release show this past weekend was basically everything we hoped it would be and more.  We want to thank everyone for coming out and having an amazing night with us.  On stage, we could be seen having the time of our lives.  If we can find a way to high five everyone who was there, singing, dancing and clapping along with us then everything will basically be perfect.

After the show we all headed back to Anthony’s apartment for long night of laughs and drinking.  At some point someone found a fake moustache, which is NEVER a bad a thing to find at a party.  I think the last person left the party at around 5:45am. I’m pretty sure that photo up there doesn’t do the night justice, so I guess you just had to be there.  Never fear, I suppose we’ll just have to be even more fun next time.  Shit yes.

He’s kinda dreamy too

There is something completely magical about this photo.  I’ll give you a hint: there are two members of I am the Heat in the photo.  Wait?  Two?  I see Jameson up there, but who the hell is that guy on the right? That glorious dude is Braden Hasnay, and he just happens to also be our new keyboardist.  There! It’s now official and we have been dying to tell everyone about this.

He’s an old friend and roommate of Mike, they’ve played in a few bands together back in the day, and now he is filling the void in I am the Heat that we didn’t even know we had.  The past month or so at practice has been amazing, adding parts to all our songs for him to play has basically been blowing our minds. Here is the best part, his first show will also be our CD release show this Saturday night.  TIGHT!

Can someone call me tomorrow night and remind me to give Braden a sweet high five, cause he fucking rulezzz. Ok?  Thanks!

It’s a total bummer to have to say this, but our show that was scheduled for this coming weekend in Philly at The M Room has been canceled.  The two bands we were opening for happened to be on tour together and had to cut their dates short, thus only leaving us to play the show.  We know a number of you out there were really looking forward to this (so were we!) because we were finally going to be playing a show near you, but you don’t have to worry, we’re working with the promoter to get us another night at the venue ASAP.

P.S. We have some unrelated EPIC NEWS to tell you about in the coming days, so check back soon to have your mind completely blown away.

P.S.S. We literally can’t wait for the CD release show on August 2nd at The Trash Bar. OMG!?!

Today we are beyond stoked to announce the official release of our newest EP, The Future Doesn’t Need Us.  If unicorns were real, we’d be riding them all over NYC right now with keytars and laser light shows, cause that’s about how awesome we feel right now.

This EP includes 5 tracks of our best work yet.  We couldn’t be happier with the end result.  We set out to create something that was kinda like taking everything that is awesome about the summertime, bottling it up with guitars and synths, putting a totally sweet album cover on it, and then giving it to you.  Like I said, we couldn’t be happier about the end result.

Our CD release show/party time extravaganza is booked for August 2nd at The Trash Bar in Williamsburg.  Hype of the States is opening up for us, and there are rumors that there is going to be someone blowing your mind with her hula hoop skills there as well.  (Not lying).

Check our merch page to buy the CD now. Then go out, get completely drunk (preferably at work, just like me), and then high five everyone!

Are you ready?

As you can of course see, you are now reading the first post on our newly redesigned site.  This has been a project long in the making by Anthony and Jameson.  It’s kinda retarded how long it took to make, but it was worth it because we are more than happy with the final outcome.  Take a look around, we tried to cram as much amazingness for you into this site as possible!

This is just one small thing in a long list of things we are super excited about right now.  It is now less than a month until the official release date of The Future Doesn’t Need Us, and we can’t believe that date is finally upon us.  Leading up to this, we have to thank the hard work of our publicists ISL Public Relations, for they have done a wonderful job of getting our music out to people we could only have dreamed of being exposed to.  Our CD release show is now officially booked for August 2nd at The Trash Bar, our favorite local bar to play AND eat tree tater tots at.  We will be releasing the final details and line-up of that show when we get it, but we can promise you that it will be a god damned amazing night to remember.

On top of that, we are also madly in love with the fact that it is now summer time.  That means rooftop parties, basement shows, slip-n-slides, keg stands, sunglasses and girls wearing less and less clothing as the months wear on.  What this really means though is us getting out there during the best part of the year to play as many shows as we can for you, to get you moving during the sweaty nights are to come.  We love recording and we love hanging out, but in the end this is all about you guys, it’s all about playing our hearts out and putting a smile on as many faces as we can.  Hundreds of bands have come and done that for us, so now it’s our turn to return the favor.

See ya around.  Be sure to play your stereo much too loud!
